Bihar. Vidhan Sabha Adjourned Amid Protest By Opposition Over Reservation, Irrigation & Special Status To Bihar.

In Bihar, Vidhan Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm today amid protest by opposition RJD, Congress and CPI-ML members on the issues of reservation, irrigation and special status to Bihar. This is the consecutive second day when the proceedings of the House disrupted in the ongoing Monsoon Session due to agitation of the opposition.

As soon as the House assembled at 11 am for the day, the opposition members trooped into the well of the House demanding a reply from the state government on the reservation issue. They were holding placards and posters and sloganeering against the state government.

Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav repeatedly asked agitating members to return to their seats and properly raise the issue. During the protest Congress member Sanjay Kumar Tiwari alias Munna Tiwari reached near the Chair holding a placard. The Speaker warned Congress members not to do so and ordered him to marshal out.

As the protest continued over the reservation issue, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who was present in the House, said the state government has challenged the Patna High Court decision in Supreme Court regarding scrapping of the 65 percent reservation quota in Bihar. Mr. Kumar also said that the state government has requested the Central government to put the increased reservation quota act in the 9th schedule of the constitution, to provide immunity from the judicial review.
