Bihar Museum Celebrates 10th Foundation Day with Launch of Bihar Museum Biennale-2025.

Bihar Museum, Patna which is among the world’s most high-tech museums is celebrating its 10th Foundation Day today. On this occasion, Bihar Museum Biennale-2025 will start today. Talking to Akashvani News, Director General of Bihar Museum, Anjani Kumar Singh said this year, the theme of the third edition of the Bihar Museum Biennale is ‘Global South: Shared Heritage.’

Mr. Singh said the Bihar Museum is propagating the rich cultural traditions, heritage and its legacy through its various activities. Bihar Museum Biennale will continue till 31st December. He said countries from Latin America, Africa and Asia are taking part in the events. He said countries like Ethiopia; Ecuador are developing countries.

They have lots of stories to tell to global audiences. He said Peru, Argentina, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and several others collaborate with India showcasing their heritage culture and values with different programmes. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the 3rd edition of the Bihar Museum Biennale this evening.

He appealed that everyone should visit Bihar Museum to learn about Bihar’s art, culture, and history, especially children, as it is important for them to connect with their heritage.  This Biennale is organized once every two years by Bihar Museum and in 2025 the institution is holding its third edition. The previous successful editions were held in 2021 and 2023. 

This time, the Biennale includes prestigious institutions from countries such as Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Ethiopia, Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, and India, representing the Global South. These countries will give a new dimension to global cultural dialogue through glimpses of their rich heritage.

The Director General of Bihar Museum said art, culture and heritage in different formats will be exhibited. A gallery of masks which is a part of storytelling of legends such as Ramayana and other folk traditions will be exhibited.

India’s top most art and culture institutions involved in curation and conservation like Indira Gandhi National Centre of Arts (IGNCA), National Gallery of Modern Arts New Delhi, ICCR from ministry of External Affairs and Rajasthan’s Mehrangarh Museum Trust will be participating in the festival.
