Assam on Thursday recorded the highest number of deaths at 55 and active cases of 4,826. This was tweeted by health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“Today’s Total 4826. Overall Positivity Percentage (4826 cases out of 52074 test done = 9.27%). Kamrup(M) 1383; Death 55; Recovery Rate 87.99,” the tweet read.
Earlier on the day, health minister Sarma visited the railway coaches prepared by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) to be used as Covid care Centre. Sarma informed that the Railway has offered 1,500 coaches to be used as Covid Care Centres.
On the other hand, starting Thursday, 3 wards in Guwahati have been declared as Contanimnet Zones – parts of Ward No. 8, 16 and 28. The order will be effective from 2 PM and will remain in force until orders, with the DC adding that the situation will be reviewed periodically before lifting or extending the order.
Further, in the containment zones, grocery, fruit, and milk shops will be allowed to open from 8 AM to 12 noon, while mobile vending and home delivery of essentials, including vegetables, meat, and fish, will also be allowed. Further, e-commerce services delivery will also be allowed till 6 PM.
