97.55% MGNREGA Job Card Holders Get Work in South Tripura. MoS Dr. L. Murugan.

Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr L. Murugan, today said that 97.55 per cent of job card holders enrolled under MGNREGA have been receiving jobs in the South Tripura district of the state.

Addressing a press briefing on his second and last day visit to South Tripura today in Belonia, the minister said 97 thousand people have MGNREGA job cards.

He said, as mandated in the scheme, over 2 thousand people in the district are being provided a legal guarantee of 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to adult members of rural households who demand employment and are willing to do unskilled manual work. Besides, under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, more than 21 thousand beneficiaries receive 600 rupees directly into their bank accounts every month.

The Union Minister stated that the district has over 28 thousand Lakhpati Didi, in addition to 7486 women working in self-help groups. Dr Murugan said that various flagship schemes of the Centre have been bringing about much-needed change in the district, and likewise, in the second phase of PM Awas Yojana, 31 thousand houses have been identified by the government.
