3 Pilgrims Killed, 5 Injured In Landslide On Kedarnath Yatra Route In Uttarakhand.

In Uttarakhand, three pilgrims were killed while five others were injured, when they were hit by a landslide near Chidwasa on the Kedarnath Yatra route in Rudraprayag district this morning. Of the deceased, two were from Maharashtra, and one was a local resident. All the devotees were en route from Gaurikund to Kedarnath.

Our correspondent reported that the rescue operations were swiftly launched by the NDRF, SDRF, and local police. The injured individuals, from Gujarat and Maharashtra, are admitted for the treatment at the Gaurikund PHC in Rudraprayag. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed his condolences and instructed that prompt and enhanced medical care be provided to the injured.

A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team arrived and immediately evacuated those injured. The bodies of 3 people who died were handed over to the district police by the SDRF.

The victims were identified as Kishore Arun Parate from Nagpur, Maharashtra; Sunil Mahadev Kale from Jalna, Maharashtra; and Anurag Bisht from Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, as per a report by The Indian Express.

Nandan Singh Rajwar, the Rudraprayag district disaster management officer (DDMO), stated that they received information about the pilgrims being trapped under the debris around 7:30 am.
