The excitement of the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand is at its peak! Spectacular performances, new records, and the rise of young talent have made these games truly remarkable. While seasoned athletes have maintained their dominance, the new generation has made a strong impact with their exceptional performances.
Today’s matches witnessed intense competition across various sports. In tennis, Services’ Ishaq Iqbal clinched the gold medal in the men’s singles category. Tamil Nadu dominated the mixed doubles, securing the gold, while Gujarat’s Vaidhehee Chaudhari emerged victorious in the women’s singles event.
In table tennis, West Bengal showcased stellar performance, winning gold medals in both the men’s and women’s categories.
The judo arena saw some gripping contests. Uttarakhand’s Unnati Sharma secured gold in the women’s division, while Punjab’s Harshpreet triumphed in the men’s category. In the under-90 kg weight category, Madhya Pradesh’s Brahma Kumar Vats claimed the gold medal with an outstanding performance.
Kayaking and canoeing events also brought remarkable results for Uttarakhand. Prabhat Kumar bagged the gold medal in the men’s 1000-meter event, while Meera Das secured first place in the women’s 200-meter event.
Today was a historic day in athletics! A 14-year-old record was shattered in the men’s 20 km race walk. Services’ Servin Sebastian clocked 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 23 seconds, setting a new National Games record. Additionally, five other athletes surpassed the previous record, marking a significant milestone in Indian athletics.
The women’s 10 km race walk also witnessed a new National Games record. Haryana’s Raveena completed the race in 45 minutes and 52 seconds, rewriting history, while nine other athletes also outperformed the previous record.
In the men’s hammer throw, Services’ Taranveer Singh Bains took home the gold medal. Tamil Nadu’s Praveen Chitravel displayed an incredible performance in the triple jump, securing the top spot. The 200-meter sprint saw Odisha’s Animesh Kujur win gold in the men’s category, while Andhra Pradesh’s Jyoti Yaraji claimed victory in the women’s race.
In the 800-meter women’s event, Delhi’s K.M. Chanda successfully defended her national title by clinching gold. In the men’s 800-meter race, Services’ Mohammad Afzal secured gold, while Uttarakhand’s Anu Kumar claimed the silver medal.
Haryana’s Tanishka Khetri won gold in the women’s epee event, while Tamil Nadu’s Nidhi Gisho emerged victorious in the men’s sabre category. The venue for the next edition of the National Games was also announced today. The 39th National Games will take place in Manipur.
Meanwhile, in the overall medal standings, Services leads the chart with 54 gold medals, while Maharashtra follows in second place with 39 golds.
