In the European Outdoor Championships, India’s Tejas Shirse bagged the silver medal in the Men’s 60-meter Hurdles at the Meeting Miramas Métropole in France last night.
He also set a new national record with a time of 7.64 seconds, surpassing his previous best of 7.65 seconds. Enrique Llopis of Spain clinched the gold, clocking 7.54 seconds, while Wilhem Belocian of France won the bronze with a time of 7.67 seconds.
In the final, the 22-year-old equalled the national record and finished fifth overall, with Polish athlete Jakub Szymański taking first place with a time of 7.41 seconds.
Last year, Shirse also set a new national record in the men’s 110m hurdles at the World Athletics Continental Tour (Challenger level) meeting in Jyvaskyla, Finland. He clocked 13.41 seconds to win the final, breaking the previous record of 13.48 seconds set by Thingalaya in 2017.
