Mohun Bagan Super Giant clinches Indian Super League 2024-25 title.

In Football, Mohun Bagan Super Giant clinched the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 title following a 2-1 victory over Bengaluru FC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium in Kolkata.

After a goalless first half, Bengaluru took the lead early in the second when a dangerous cross from Ryan Williams deflected off Mohun Bagan defender Alberto Rodríguez for an own goal in the 49th minute. However, Mohun Bagan struck back when a handball by Chinglensana Singh resulted in a penalty.

Jason Cummings stepped up and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner in the 72nd minute to level the score. Six minutes into extra time, Greg Maclaren delivered the decisive blow for Mohun Bagan. Capitalizing on a defensive lapse by Bengaluru FC, Maclaren unleashed a powerful strike into the net, sparking celebrations across the stadium and sealing a memorable title win for the Kolkata giants.

This was Mohun Bagan’s second ISL title, following their maiden triumph in the 2022-23 season. They also became only the second team, after Mumbai City FC in 2020-21, to win both the League Winners Shield and the ISL Cup in the same season.
