In Ladakh, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra, inaugurated the 4th LG Horse Polo Cup 2024 at Horse Polo Ground in Goshan Drass.
During the event, he also unveiled Ladakh’s first Polo Stadium at Goshan Drass, a landmark facility constructed at a cost of 6.84 crore rupees. This event underscores Ladakh’s dedication to preserving its polo heritage and enhancing sports infrastructure for local talent and tourism alike.
The new Polo Stadium, constructed at a cost of Rs 6.84 crore, was unveiled during the event. The inauguration was attended by notable figures including CEC LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffar Akhoon, MP Ladakh Mohammad Hanifa Jan, and other regional officers, emphasizing the importance of this development.
LG Mishra congratulated the people of Dras and extended his best wishes to all participating teams, especially the two women’s teams making their debut in the LG Polo Cup. He announced plans to make next year’s tournament even larger, with hopes of inviting the President or Vice President of India.
