Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has emphasised employing a 360-degree approach to improve the Indian sports ecosystem with consolidated efforts from national sports federations, state governments, corporations, and other stakeholders.
He said this while chairing the 152nd Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) Meeting in New Delhi today. The main agenda of the meeting was the introduction of members for the newly constituted MOC and planning for the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 towards improving India’s medal tally.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Dr. Mandaviya said that India has started preparations for the Olympics in 2028, and a strategy is being made to ensure the athletes give their best performance in the Olympics in 2028. He added that there were discussions on how to identify and nurture talent, give them exposure on national platforms, and prepare them for the sporting event.
After the meeting, Chief National Coach for the Indian Badminton Team, Pullela Gopichand, said that our ecosystem is pretty challenging with a diverse nation, diverse sports, and varied players coming from different ecosystems.
