In Cricket, India defeated England by 7 wickets in the first T20 international of the five-match series at Eden Gardens in Kolkata this evening.
Chasing the target of 133 runs set by England, India reached the target in 12.5 overs for the loss of three wickets with the valuable contribution of Abhishek Sharma of 79 runs.
Earlier, the hosts won the toss and opted to bowl. England scored 132 runs in the stipulated 20 overs while they lost all wickets. Captain Jos Buttler hit 68 runs in 44 balls.
Rest four matches will be played in Chennai, Rajkot, Pune, and Mumbai. The fifth T20 will take place in Mumbai on 2nd February. Following the T20 series, the teams will compete in a three-match ODI series starting February 6.
