Reacting on the latest spat between the Indian and Chines Soldiers which saw over 20 Indian jawans killed in action, the White House Press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said that US is aware of the situation at LAC in Eastern Ladakh and monitoring the situation between Indian & Chinese forces. She said ” We saw Indian Army statement that 20 soldiers are dead due to confrontation, we send our deepest condolences on that”.
Both Indian and Chinese side are enagaged in dialogue at various levels to bring peace along the LAC which has seen frequent clashes between the frontier forces on both the sides in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Russia has also Welcomed the de-escalation efforts of both India and China. In a message Russian ambassador in Delhi Nikolai Kudashev said that ‘We welcome all steps aimed at de-escalation at the LAC, including the conversation between the two FMs, and remain optimistic’.
On Wednesday, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had a telephonic conversation with his Chines counterpart regarding the bloody clashes of Indian and Chinese soldiers in Ladakh. During the conversation it was agreed that overall situation would be handled in a responsible manner, and both sides would implement the disengagement understanding of 6th June sincerely.
Reacting to the brewing tension along the Eastern Ladakh border the European Union spokesperson for foreign affairs Virginie Battu-Henriksson said that “In light of recent worrying developments along LAC between India & China, we encourage both sides to show restraint & to engage in military de-escalation, as well as to continue the dialogue’.
India-China conflict has evoked reaction from United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also. Gutteres expressed concern over the violent face-off and urged both the countries to exercise maximum restraint
Britain has also expressed concerns over the violent clashes and appealed both the nation to sort the issue through dialogue.
‘We encourage China and India to engage in dialogue on issues relating to the border-violence is in no-one’s interest”, a British High Commission spokesperson in Delhi said.
The disturbing events along the borders of two Asian giants have send worrying signals to the world.
As India has maintained its commitment to disengage along the LAC agreed during the military officers talk on 6th June, ball is now in China’s court to honour its word and create an atmosphere of peace and calm along the LAC.
