Haryana Cadre IPS officer Shashank Anand has been appointed as the new Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) for the Jammu Frontier, which covers the International Border from Jammu to Kathua.
He takes over from IG D.K. Boora, who led the frontier since October 2021.
Shashank Anand, a 2006 batch IPS officer, was promoted to IG in January this year, after being empanelled to hold IG-level posts at the Centre.
Worth mentioning, the BSF is responsible for securing the 198 km-long International Border, stretching from Kathua to Akhnoor. The BSF is also deployed as a second-line defence force after the Army along the Line of Control.
