A day ahead of the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, war veterans, relatives of defence personnel, and local people attended a gathering at Lamochen Point in Drass to commemorate the historic win of the country in the 1999 Kargil War.
The War Memorial in Drass is all set to host the grand celebration of the Rajat Jayanti of Kargil Vijay Diwas.The event, scheduled for the 26th of July, will witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
In a bid to maintain security and decorum during the celebrations, the Deputy Commissioner of Kargil has issued an order designating Dras and Kargil tehsils as no drone zones. The use of any unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in these areas has been strictly prohibited.
The Rajat Jayanti celebration of Kargil Vijay Diwas is expected to be a solemn and poignant reminder of the valour and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces during the Kargil War.
