Independence Day celebrated with patriotic fervour, gaiety across the country.

On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, the National Flag was hoisted at various places in the country

In Arunachal Pradesh, main Independence Day function was held at IG Park, Itanagar, where Chief Minister Pema Khandu hoisted the National Flag and took salute from the parade.

The ceremonial march past featured various uniformed contingents, NCC cadets, Scouts and Guides, and schoolchildren.

In his address, Mr Khandu said that today Arunachal Pradesh’s per capita income has more than doubled by 105 percent proving that development is reaching the people and lives are improving across the state. He said that the state government has declared 2025-2035 as the Decade of Hydropower.

The Chief Minister announced that in the next three years alone the government will kick off new hydropower projects worth two Lakh Crore rupees adding another 19 GW of capacity in the state. 

The celebrations also featured spectacular and vibrant cultural performances by various artists.

Earlier in the morning, Governor Lt. Gen. K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) hoisted the National Flag at Raj Bhawan in Itanagar.Speaking on the occasion the Governor said that the state stands in an era of rapid change and immense opportunity.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today hoisted the national flag at Mantralaya in Mumbai to mark India’s 79th Independence Day.

Addressing the gathering, he hailed the Operation Sindoor and asserted that Indian armed forces destroyed terrorist establishments in Pakistan with extreme precision and demonstrated India’s military might on the global level. He congratulated all the officers and soldiers who were a part of this operation.

Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan hoisted the National Tricolor at the Council Hall in Pune.

Nagaland joined the nation in celebrating the Independence Day with a vibrant display of cultural performances. A state-level programme was held at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza in Kohima, where Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio hoisted the National Flag and took the Salute from the parade contingents.

Addressing the citizens, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the freedom fighters and brave martyrs who secured the country’s freedom and safeguarded its future. He said their courage, sacrifice, and selfless service will forever inspire generations to come.

Mr. Rio said the ongoing Naga Peace Process is a symbol of hope for a lasting solution that fulfills the aspirations of the Naga people.

He added that his government has been actively facilitating the peace process and called upon everyone to work together for a peaceful resolution that ensures justice and dignity for all.

He noted that substantial progress has been made on the issue of the Frontier Nagaland Territory, with the latest tripartite talks between representatives of the Government of India, the Government of Nagaland, and the Nga organisation ENPO held on 23rd July this year in Delhi.

Highlighting the developmental activities of his government, the Chief Minister announced that the state government is setting up a Skill Centre for construction workers with a budget of three crore rupees.

He also announced the launch of a programme to provide access to core employability skills for rural youth, using a mobile Morung Skill Van, with a budget outlay of one crore rupees

Flag hoisting programmes were also organized at various important institutions in Mumbai.

Various cultural and social programs have been organised all over the city. All important buildings have been decorated in tri-colour lights.

In Assam, main state function of Independence Day was held at Veterinary Play Ground in Guwahati. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma hoisted the tri-colour and took salute from the parade.

Akashvani Correspondent reports, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma while addressing at the Independence Day celebration program in Guwahati said that Assam is one of the three fastest developing states in India. Mr. Sarma thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for all round support to his government.

He said that several major development projects materialised in the State due active support from the Central Government. The Chief Minister further informed that the State received record breaking investment from domestic as well as international industrial groups. 

The Chief Minister said that first-of-its-kind approach in the country, his government started the Co-district concept across the State. At present, 49 co-districts have been operational and government plans to establish another 29 co-districts. 

The co-districts are seen as a crucial reform aimed at decentralizing administration as they have jurisdiction on the services like land revenue, administrative and magisterial powers, food and civil supplies, excise, disaster management, development and welfare work of the people.

On the occasion of Independence Day, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hoisted the National Flag and took the salute of the parade at the Police Parade Ground in Raipur.

Addressing the gathering, he urged the people of the state to adopt indigenous products in the interest of the nation.He announced the launch of the Mukhyamantri Nagar Utthan Yojana to improve urban infrastructure in the state.

Mr Saoi also announced the introduction of the Police Commissionerate system in Raipur, as well as the commencement of the Mukhyamantri Gramin Bus Seva Yojana in Bastar and Sarguja divisions.

In Madhya Pradesh, the state level function of Independence Day was organized in Bhopal where Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav hoisted the national flag. Governor Mangu Bhai Patel hoisted the tricolor in Pachmarhi.

Cabinet ministers of the state and district collectors hoisted the flag at various district headquarters.

In his address, the Chief Minister said that 55 lakh hectares of area is being irrigated in the state. He said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country where the project to link rivers has been started.

He said that the state stood second in the country by building 38 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Also, more than 8 lakh urban families have also been provided with concrete houses.

Dr. Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh is the leading state to implement the National Education Policy 2020.

Independence Day was also celebrated in all district headquarters, where Ministers and MLAs hoisted the National Flag.

In Bihar, the 79th Independence Day is being celebrated with full patriotic feelings. The main state level function was held historical Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where Chief Minister Nitish Kumar hoisted the national flag.

Addressing the people, he announced that his government is focused on jobs and employment to youths and in next five years one crore jobs and employment opportunities will be given to the youths.

The Chief Minister announced reduction of fees for preliminary stage of competitive examinations organised by the Bihar Public Service Commission and other exam holding bodies to nominal 100 rupees. He also announced fees waiver to candidates, who appear in mains examination of state competition.

Mr Kumar enumerated several achievements of his government in health, education, infrastructure law and order.

The Chief Minister said seven new medical colleges will be set up in Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Sheohar, Arwal, Rohtas, Katihar and Kishanganj.

He also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government for providing financial assistance and other help under special packages for infrastructure development, flood mitigation and agriculture for Bihar.

The 79th Independence Day is being celebrated across Odisha with much enthusiasm. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hoisted the National Flag at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar during the state-level celebrations this morning and took salute of the parade.

In his address, Mr Majhi highlighted achievements of his government and outlined the roadmap for the state development. He said the state government has been working to strengthen education, health care, and infrastructure, with special focus on welfare measures for senior citizens.

The Chief Minister said, industrialisation across all districts of Odisha remains a priority, with special emphasis on setting up pharmaceutical companies to make the state a pharma hub. Mr Majhi also said, plans are in place to empower youth through various schemes.

In Punjab, the 79th Independence Day is being celebrated with full gaiety and fervour. The state-level function was held at Faridkot, where Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann hoisted the National Flag.

The Cabinet ministers of the state hoisted the flag at various district headquarters. Punjab Governor and Administrator Union Territory Chandigarh Gulab Chand Kataria hoisted the tricolor in Chandigarh.

The Border Security Force, the first line of defence, celebrated the Independence Day at all its units in Punjab. Director General of the BSF, Daljeet Singh Chawdhary hoisted the National Flag at its base in Khasa, Amritsar.

Whereas, the flag hoisting ceremony was also held at Attari border where DIG of BSF, SS Chandel hoisted the tricolor.

In Tripura, Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha led the state-level celebrations at the Assam Rifles ground in Agartala, hoisting the tricolour and taking the salute from marching contingents of State Police, TSR, BSF, CRPF, Assam Rifles, and NCC cadets.

In Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel hoisted the National Flag on Independence Day in the historic city of Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi.

Addressing the people on the occasion, Mr Patel said that after decades of independence, India has now become self-reliant with indigenous technology made in the country. He called upon citizens to embrace their voluntary responsibilities and actively participate in the nation’s development journey.

The event was marked by spectacular demonstrations by police personnel and a vibrant display of cultural performances that reflected the diversity and spirit of India.

To balance urban rural development, the Chief Minister announced the approval of over 100 town planning schemes aimed at the systematic growth of even the smallest urban centers.

He revealed that Geographic Information Systems-based development plans will be formulated at 55 towns with populations under one lakh, bringing modern planning tools to emerging urban areas.

To ensure that rural Gujarat is not left behind, the Chief Minister unveiled the Mukhyamantri Gramodyan Yojana, a visionary initiative designed to bring structured development to villages alongside cities. The five-year scheme will be backed by a budgetary provision of 100 crore rupees and will focus on the comprehensive development of Gram Panchayats not yet integrated into municipal structures.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini hoisted the flag at the state level Independence Day function held in Rohtak today and saluted all the known and unknown martyrs, freedom fighters and brave sons. Chief Minister said that the first spark of the revolution of 1857 erupted from Ambala Cantonment.

Referring to the steps taken for the welfare of the families of martyred soldiers, Mr Saini said that the ex-gratia amount for the families of soldiers martyred in the war has been increased to one crore. The government has given jobs to 410 dependents of the martyrs and also decided to give 10 percent reservation in jobs to Agniveers.

The Chief Minister also recalled the achievements of his government in various fields.

Independence Day was celebrated in Tamil Nadu with national fervour and pride. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin hoisted the National Flag at Fort St. George in Chennai.

The District collectorates were decorated with tricolour lights and festoons. Our correspondent reports that the State Government arranged the customary food feast at all big temples.

Akashvani correspondent reports, in Chennai, flags and festoons of tri colour flew at the Government buildings and at the public places displaying national festivity. Flags were hoisted amidst the music rendition of Sare Jahan Se Acha and Vande Matharam.

Events also included traditional art performances with national flag formations and RPF dog shows displaying their courage and bravery in saving victims from fire and other dangers by the Southern Railway. Cycle rallies were also part of the celebrations today where people displayed Tiranga upholding National integration. 

Chief Minister’s Award was given to those who contributed to the Nation’s development and for those who rendered excellent social service to the Society by the Tamilnadu Government.

The  award includes ISRO Chairman Narayanan, Prof. Kadar Mohideen, IAS Officers Lakshmi Priya, Azhagu Meena and Gagarlal Usha. In his speech, the Chief Minister highlighted health and education.

He said that true freedom means upholding the ideals of our freedom fighters envisioned so that every person can live with equality, dignity and respect.

The Principal Chief Commissioner of Chennai Customs, ARS Kumar in his speech after hoisting the National Flag referred to the recent tariff imposed by the US and said that the Indian export community is facing turbulent times in the wake of high economic tariff from the United States. The hard-hit export sector needs incentives to strengthen the economy.

In Jammu & Kashmir, the 79th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor and passion. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah unfurled the National Flag at the iconic Bakhshi Stadium in Srinagar.

Addressing a large gathering, the Chief Minister outlined key initiatives aimed at uplifting the region’s socio-economic landscape.

He said his government’s annual budget was designed to provide relief and strengthen sectors critical to the region’s growth. Mr Abdullah said that additionally, the innovative Mission Yuva scheme has opened alternative employment avenues for over 4.5 lakh youth.

He added that the constituency development fund for MLAs was raised from three crore rupees to four crore rupees to drive local welfare and infrastructure projects.

Mr Abdullah also paid floral tributes at the Balidan Stambh in Srinagar, honoring the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs.

In Ladakh, Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at the Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium Kargil.

Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohammed Jaffar Akhone, hoisted the National Flag and took the salute at the ceremonial parade.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Akhone highlighted the achievements of the Government, particularly in the apricot sector, developmental works, and sports. 

An impressive march past was presented by contingents of the Police, NCC, and students from various schools, accompanied by the Police Band.

The celebration also featured a vibrant cultural programme with patriotic performances and a drama by the Ranthag Theater Group. Later, the Chief Guest felicitated individuals with outstanding achievements and distributed mementoes and awards among the participants.
