IMD Issues Red Alert For Severe Rainfall In MP, Maharashtra, Gujarat & More; Orange Alert For Heavy Rainfall In Several States.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa tomorrow.

An orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Chhattisgarh, Eastern Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Coastal Karnataka, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Bihar.

IMD said the low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand persists and associated cyclonic circulation in middle and upper tropospheric levels.

It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over Jharkhand and the neighbourhood during the next 24 hours.  

Speaking of other states, as per IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted over Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat Region during 1st-5th August; Madhya Pradesh during 1st–4th August; Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh during 1st-3rd August and Saurashtra, Kutch on 03rd August. In addition to this, heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Marathwada on the 3rd August and Saurashtra, Kutch on the 4th August.
