Government gives minimum support price to farmers of country as per recommendations of Swaminathan committee report, Union Minister says.

Government today said that recommendations of the committee formed after farmer agitation are yet to come, and then only government can take any decision on giving status of legal right to MSP.

Replying to supplementaries in Lok Sabha, Union Minister for Agriculture and farmer welfare Narendra Singh Tomar said that government is giving minimum support price to the farmers of the country as per the recommendations of Swaminathan committee report.

He said that now government is making procurement worth 2.28 lakh crore rupees. He said that after the farmer agitation, a committee was formed to look into issues related to farmers including giving legal right to MSP. The committee had 35 sitting so far, and its recommendations are yet to come.
