Delhi. Massive fire erupts near Rithala Metro Station. 16 fire tenders deployed.

A massive fire broke out last evening at a factory near Rithala Metro Station in New Delhi. According to the Delhi Fire Services, 16 fire tenders were promptly deployed to the spot to control the blaze. The Delhi Fire Services reported that the situation is under control, but firefighting operations are still ongoing.

The fire, reported around 7.29pm on June 24, engulfed a four-storey building where plastic and readymade bags were being manufactured. According to police, the fire originated on the ground and first floors—used as a factory space—and quickly spread to the upper levels, which were used as godowns and for fabric work.

Three workers—identified as Nitin (31), son of the building owner, Rakesh (30), and Virender (25)—were initially rescued and rushed to Dr. BSA Hospital. Nitin and Rakesh, both with 80% burn injuries, were later referred to RML Hospital for further treatment. Virender sustained minor injuries.

Around 1.15am, firefighters recovered three charred bodies from the first floor. Another body was pulled out from the top floor later on Wednesday morning, taking the death toll to four. All victims remain unidentified as the bodies were severely charred.

Firefighting operations continued through the night, with the blaze finally doused by early Wednesday morning. A full search of the building was delayed due to heavy smoke.
