The Monsson Session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly began today. On the first day of the session, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta tabled two Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports on ‘State Finances for the year 2023-24’ and ‘Welfare of Building and other Construction Workers’ in the house today.
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood also introduced the ‘The Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill, 2025′ in the house. Highlighting the bill, the Education Minister, said that this will bust the education mafia that has been running rampant in the city. He noted that every stakeholder was consulted before drafting the bill, fulfilling the goal of a welfare state.
Meanwhile, commenting on the Bill, Leader of Opposition in the house, Atishi said the bill has been introduced to benefit private schools in the city. The Opposition further criticised the Bill and staged a walkout, demanding it to be sent to the Select Committee.
The House when met in the afternoon, paid tribute and observed a moment of silence for the victims of Pahalgam attack, Air India flight 171 crash, Bengaluru Stampede as well as the demise of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren.
During the session, BJP MLA Abhay Verma presented a Motion of Thanks over Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta commended the Indian Armed Forces for their bravery and valour. She noted that the operations delivered justice to the grieving families of the victims of the Pahalgam attack.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition, Atishi condemned Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism but also criticised the Centre for not taking severe enough action.
This is the first session after Delhi Assembly become digital and Paperless. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal had inaugurated the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) at Delhi Assembly premises yesterday.
