Country celebrates National Unity Day, marking 148th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The Nation is remembering ‘Iron Man of India’, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 148th birth anniversary on Tuesday. The 31st of October is celebrated as the National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas every year in the country to commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Patel who is credited for the integration of all the princely states with the Republic of India.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in the National Unity Day celebrations at Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat this morning. Prime Minister Modi paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel at the Statue of Unity. Mr Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth 160 crore rupees.

Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister called upon people to persistently work towards upholding our nation’s unity to realize the aspiration of a prosperous India

On the occasion, President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and several Union Minister paid tributes to ‘Iron Man of India’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
