BSF-BGB Border conference concludes in Delhi. Infiltration declines.

The 55th Director General level Border Co-ordination Conference between Border Security Forces (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was concluded in New Delhi today. During the conference, issues like infiltration, trans-border crimes, fencing at the border, smuggling and other issues were discussed at length between the two nations.

Briefing the media after the conference, Director General of Border Security Force Daljit Singh Chawdhary said, infiltration has gone down substantially after 5th August last year along the Indo-Bangla border. He said the surveillance mechanism at the border has been strengthened with the deployment of state-of-the-art surveillance systems to check illegal activity.

On the other hand, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh, Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui termed the news of the attack on minorities in the recent past in Bangladesh exaggerated.

He stressed that security was ensured at puja pandals within eight kilometres of the international border during Durga Puja. He said security forces got several requests from minorities for protection in Bangladesh and they were assured of help.
