In Rajasthan, after the death of a woman due to Congo fever was confirmed in Jodhpur, the Health Department has issued guidelines for the prevention and protection from this disease across the state.
A 51-year-old woman from Jodhpur suffering from Congo fever, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ahmedabad, died yesterday. The woman’s sample was found positive in the investigation conducted at the National Institute of Virology, Pune.
Dr. Ravi Prakash Mathur, Public Health Director, stated that the Chief Medical and Health Officer in Jodhpur has been directed to deploy a rapid response team to the affected area. This team will work to prevent further infections. Suspected cases and symptomatic individuals are being traced and isolated to contain the spread.
Congo fever is a zoonotic viral disease transmitted through tick bites. The Animal Husbandry Department has been instructed to implement measures to control and prevent this disease. Efforts are underway to educate the public about precautions to stop the infection from spreading.
