In Rajasthan, the death toll has increased to seven and 33 others are injured in the horrific gas tanker fire incident that took place this morning in the Bhankrota area of Jaipur.
The incident took place at around 6 AM when two gas tankers collided near the ring road on Ajmer Highway, after which a fire broke out.
A total of 40 vehicles got destroyed in the accident including 29 trucks and 2 sleeper buses. Four people died on the spot due to burn injuries, while three others are reported to have died during treatment. Our correspondent reports that there was chaos in the entire area after the incident.
It occurred at approximately 5:45 am near a school. Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph revealed that the crash caused the tanker’s outlet nozzle to rupture, leading to a gas leak that ignited a massive fire. “Vehicles behind the tanker were engulfed in flames. Other vehicles coming from the opposite directions also caught fire and collided,” he said.
