Karnataka BJP to launch month-long Jana Akrosha rally against price rise, religion-based reservation.

The Karnataka BJP will launch a month-long Jana Akrosha rally in Mysuru this evening against price rise and religion-based reservation in the state. Addressing media persons in Bengaluru today, the BJP State President B Y Vijayendra informed that the rally will be launched in Mysuru by Union Minister Prahlad Joshi after performing pooja to goddess Chamundeshvari in the afternoon.

The rally will traverse the state in four stages. In the first stage, the Janakrosha rally will be held in Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Madakeri and Mangaluru. He charged that the Congress-led Government in Karnataka is increasing the prices of essential goods, announced four percent reservation for Muslims in civic works, diverted funds meant for SC and STs for other purposes and taken other anti-people decisions. B Y Vijayendra said that the party would take up these issues with people.

The protest will start in Mysuru on Monday and conclude in Bengaluru on May 3.

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R Ashoka told reporters that every time Congress comes to power, there is corruption, maladministration and looting of people through price hike. In the last 21 months of Congress government, every month there is an increase in the price of one commodity or the other.

“Our protest is also against misusing funds allotted for Dalits and injustice to farmers. The protest will be carried out in four phases in Mysuru, Kittur Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka and Kalyana-Karnataka regions,” he added.

BJP state president BY Vijayendra and all senior leaders will take part in the rallies and the protest will be flagged off by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday. “We will walk 1 km in every district and then address the public on these issues. We want to reach every corner of the state,’’ he said.

Because of price hike, the cost of commodities including vegetables, grains and other essentials has increased. “The government has increased the property guidance value, power tariff, bus and metro fares, government college fees and more,” he added.

The campaign follows an overnight protest staged by the BJP against the hike in milk and diesel prices on April 2 and 3.

Addressing a news conference Sunday, Leader of Opposition R Ashoka said that the campaign will be flagged off by Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi in Mysuru. During the first day of the Yatra, a km-long march will be taken out prior to a public meeting in Mysuru.
