Legendary Sarod Virtuoso Ustad Amjad Ali Khan performs in Riyadh.

The Embassy of India, in collaboration with the Diplomatic Quarter Office at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, hosted the musical performance Three Generations, One Melody, featuring the renowned Indian Sarod Quintet led by acclaimed composer Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. The live concert took place at the Cultural Palace on Thursday.

Ustad Amjad Ali Khan’s Three Generations, One Melody concert was a captivating fusion of tradition and talent. The maestro, accompanied by his sons Amaan and Ayaan, along with his grandsons Zohaan and Abeer, delivered an unforgettable performance. Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, who was conferred with India’s second-highest civilian honour, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2001, earned widespread acclaim from the audience.

Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia, emphasized the cultural significance of the Sarod Quintet. “The Embassy is honored to co-host this remarkable event in Riyadh. This one-of-a-kind musical performance, held for the first time in Saudi Arabia, highlights the richness of Indian classical music,” he said. He also highlighted the growing appreciation for Indian culture in the Kingdom.

“The strong interest among Saudi friends in this concert is a clear sign of the rising popularity of Indian music, arts, and cinema, which has deepened in recent years,” he added. Indian culture, music, cinema, and art are gaining popularity in Saudi Arabia. Riyadh’s cultural calendar is filled with events that showcase Indian themes, highlighting the growing interest in Indian traditions.
