Union Minister of State for Steel Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma inaugurated the two-day conference themed “Green Revolution in Steel – Sustainable Innovation” today. The All India Induction Furnace Association (AIIFA) Sustainable Steel Manufacturers Association organized the event at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai. Addressing the gathering, Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma underscored the significance of sustainable practices and innovation in the steel sector.
Highlighting the importance of collaboration, the Minister said that this conference is a platform that fosters dialogue among industry experts and stakeholders. The Minister urged attendees to adopt innovative solutions as the steel industry confronts significant environmental challenges.
He also encouraged the industry stakeholders to prioritize corporate social responsibility and collaborate with government and research institutions to lead the green revolution in steel. The Minister also released a 2024 Souvenir and Handbook on the Indian Steel Sector. He also felicitated ten distinguished steel industry associations during the inaugural session.
The conference is co-located with Steelex 2024, featuring over 200 exhibitors and attracting 1,200 delegates, along with 15,000 trade visitors and will conclude tomorrow. Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries, H. D. Kumaraswamy will attend tomorrow’s concluding session. The conference aims to provide a platform for key stakeholders to collaborate on strategies for reducing carbon emissions and addressing climate change challenges within the steel industry.
