Indian Markets Rebound. Sensex & Nifty Gain Nearly 1%.

Domestic benchmark indices recovered this week after witnessing the biggest weekly fall in more than two years in the previous week. The Indian equity indices ended with nearly a percent gain for the week ended yesterday, supported by domestic institutional investors (DIIs) despite mixed global markets and continued selling by foreign institutional investors (FIIs).

This week, the BSE Sensex added 657 points, or 0.84 percent, to close at 78,699, while the Nifty50 index rose 225 points, or 0.95 percent, to close at 23,813.

In the broader market this week, the BSE MidCap index was up 0.2 percent, while the BSE SmallCap index ended flat.

FIIs extended their selling during the week, as they sold equities worth over 6 thousand crore rupees, while DIIs provided support to the Indian market as they bought equities worth nearly 11 thousand crore rupees.
