Internet services have been suspended in Nuh till tomorrow to contain the “intense communal tension” and stop the spread of misinformation and rumours that left 3 dead and 45 injured in this Haryana village.
At least three home guards were killed and nine other police officers, including one Deputy Superintendent of Police rank and three inspectors, were injured in the communal violence that broke out during a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) rally on Monday. The police team was on its way to Nuh from Gurugram to maintain the law and order situation when their vehicle was set on fire. Internet services have been shut down and Section 144 has been imposed in Nuh and Gurugram after tensions reached a boiling point over the alleged presence of a prominent cow vigilante during the VHP’s ‘Shobha Yatra’ rally.
Prohibitory orders banning the assembly of people have been clamped in Nuh and Gurugram districts. Mobile internet services have also been suspended in the violence-hit Nuh district till Wednesday to contain the ‘intense communal tension’.
Schools and colleges have been shut in Gurugram, Faridabad and Palwal districts on Tuesday as a precautionary measure.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar called violence in Nuh ‘unfortunate’ and appealed for calm. He also said that the guilty will not be spared at any cost and assured of strict action against them.
