Domestic indices close marginally lower for 4th. consecutive session.

The domestic benchmark indices today ended marginally lower, extending their losing streak to the fourth consecutive session. The BSE Sensex ended flat, with a fall of 17 points, to close at 80,065 and the NSE Nifty shed 36 points, or 0.15 per cent, to settle at 24,399.

The broader market at Bombay Stock Exchange also ended in negative territory. The Mid-Cap index lost 0.13 per cent and the Small-Cap index declined over half per cent.

In the Sensex index, 19 out of 30 companies ended in positive territory. In the top gainers, UltraTech Cement climbed more than two and a half per cent, Mahindra and Mahindra gained over 1.3 per cent and Titan added 1.2 per cent.

Conversely, in the laggards, Hindustan Unilever plummeted over 5.8 per cent, Nestle shed over 2.8 per cent and ITC fell 1.8 per cent.

In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 11 out of 20 sectors logged losses. In the top laggards, FMCG declined over two and a half per cent, Realty slipped 1.2 per cent, and Telecommunication was one per cent down. In the top gainers, Bankex rose more than half per cent, Utilities, Healthcare and Power added over 0.4 per cent, and Financial Services gained 0.3 per cent.

The overall market breadth at the BSE was negative as shares of 1,584 companies advanced and 2,349 declined while 100 remained unchanged.

At the National Stock Exchange, 30 companies hit their 52-week high while 88 hit their 52-week low.
