25 people charred to death as bus catches fire on Maharashtra eway

Twenty-five people died after a bus travelling from Maharashtra’s Yavatmal to Pune caught fire in Buldhana on the Samruddhi Mahamarg Expressway. The incident happened around 2 am on Saturday. Additionally, eight people sustained injuries when the bus they were traveling in caught fire.

According to officials, the bus, carrying a total of 33 passengers en route to Pune, overturned and caught fire after colliding with a pole on the expressway. Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver, who survived the incident, attributed the accident to a burst tire.

Superintendent of Police, Buldhana, Sunil Kadasane, reported that 25 people lost their lives due to the fire, and the injured, including the bus driver, have been transported to a hospital for medical attention. A case has been registered, and an ongoing investigation is underway. Mr. Kadasane emphasized the immediate priority of identifying the victims and facilitating their return to their respective families.
