CAQM in NCR and Adjoining Areas invoked Stage-3 of GRAP with immediate effect.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas today invoked Stage-3 of GRAP with immediate effect across the entire Delhi-NCR.

The decision came after Delhi’s Air Quality Index was recorded at 380 today, placing it in the Very Poor category.

This is in addition to the existing actions under Stages 1 and 2 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).

The Sub-Committee on GRAP today held a meeting in New Delhi and reviewed the air quality scenario in the region.

The restrictions include a complete ban on all construction and demolition activities, including earthwork, trenching, road construction activities and major repairs.

However, certain construction activities linked to essential infrastructure projects will be permitted. The revised GRAP framework also restricts the movement of certain older vehicles.

These include BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel light motor vehicles in Delhi. GRAP is an emergency framework designed to coordinate pollution-control action across Delhi and the National Capital Region.
