A day after anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that the main accused, Chemist Ashwani Kumar has been arrested.
He assured that none involved in this broad daylight murder of the anti-drug activist will be spared. He said he has directed the Director General of Police to take strict and appropriate action against those involved.
Police arrested the accused, from Rajasthan late last night. Mansa district administration demolished his house today. The irate mob, including those sitting on dharma in protest against the killing since yesterday, vandalized his medicine shop.
A large number of police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order. Various political parties including Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress have condemned the killing and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
BJP State President, Kewal Singh Dhillon, during a press conference, today, blamed the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state for prevailing law less ness. He said Chief Minister Mann is himself holding the portfolio of the home department.
The killings of innocent people including police personnel are being reported almost every day and gangsters are freely moving and drugs are selling everywhere.
