Maharashtra signed 67 Memoranda of Understanding involving proposed investments worth over 8.5 lakh crore rupees at the Maharashtra Investment Summit in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The proposed investments are expected to generate around 2.9 lakh jobs. Data centres, IT and semiconductors account for the largest share of the proposed investment, followed by energy, cleantech, renewable energy, aerospace and defence.
Mr Fadnavis also launched a platform, ‘Invest Maharashtra ‘, aimed at making the state a major investment destination. He said the government would provide coordinated support to investors for land, power, infrastructure, approvals and skilled manpower.
The proposed investments cover sectors including advanced manufacturing, healthcare, agricultural processing, electronics and renewable energy.
The Chief Minister said the benefits of major investments should reach local MSMEs, suppliers, youth and farmers through supply-chain opportunities and skill development.
Investment proposals have been received from several regions, including Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ratnagiri, Palghar and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The state has set a target of building a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
