In Uttar Pradesh, heavy and incessant rain has thrown life out of gear in many districts. Schools up to Class 12 will remain closed in several districts due to the heavy rain alert.
Many districts, including state capital Lucknow, have been witnessing heavy rain due to cyclonic conditions over the last 24 hours.
Normal life has been badly disrupted, and road traffic has also been affected due to heavy rain. Many rain-related accidents have also been reported from different parts of the state.
Relief Commissioner of the state, Dr Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod, held a video conference with the District Magistrates of districts under red and orange alerts to review the weather situation and preparedness.
He directed officials to remain active in the field, continuously monitor local conditions and ensure immediate action in any emergency situation.
According to the India Meteorological Department forecast, weather conditions are likely to remain affected in the state on Saturday and Sunday.
In eastern Uttar Pradesh, a warning of very heavy rainfall has been issued, along with heavy rainfall, thunder and lightning, and strong winds. In western Uttar Pradesh as well, heavy rainfall, thunder and lightning are likely till September 27.
