In Uttar Pradesh, many rivers are still in spate and 24 districts are affected by floods. Four people died in Kanpur and one in Badayun due to accidents caused by heavy rains.
In Shahjahanpur district, the water levels of the Ganga and Ramganga rivers are near the danger mark. The administration has advised residents living along the banks of the Garra and Khakhara rivers and in low-lying areas to remain vigilant.
In Shravasti district, the Rapti River has caused severe bank erosion and transport disruptions, particularly in Shravasti.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Chitrakoot and a ground inspection of Ram Ghat.
He distributed relief material to 800 flood-affected families, along with land allotment certificates to homeless families. The Chief Minister assured the people that the state government stands with them in this hour of crisis.
Meanwhile the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in the eastern part of the state for the next four days and in the western districts in the next two days.
