Several coastal areas of Keralam are likely to experience sea incursion due to high waves today.
The National Centre for Ocean Information Services has warned that waves measuring 1 to 1.5 metres are likely along the coasts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod until 11.30 AM today.
The high-period swell waves from the southern Indian Ocean have now reached southern Tamil Nadu and Keralam coasts and started interacting with the coastal regions.
This has been confirmed by the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), the agency that provides forecasts on the state of the ocean for the seas surrounding India during extreme weather conditions like high waves and swell conditions, and cyclones.
