In Jharkhand, Latehar district police have arrested a regional commander of the banned CPI (Maoist), Ravindra Ganjhu, carrying a reward of 20 lakh rupees, from the Chandwa police station area.
Jharkhand Police had announced a reward of 15 lakh rupees for him, and NIA announced 5 lakh rupee reward for his arrest. Police said, Ganjhu was the prime accused in the Maoist attack on a police team near Lukuiya Mor in Chandwa on November 22, 2019, in which four police personnel were killed.
Ganjhu was also part of the Maoist team that ambushed security forces in Katia village, in which 12 personnel were killed and 14 were injured.
Police further stated that Ganjhu was involved in triggering IEDs on Feb 10, 2022, in Bulbul village of Lohardaga district, which injured havildar Narayan Das.
Two days later, Maoists, including Ganjhu, again exploded an IED during an encounter with police, injuring constable Toman Kumar. Ganjhu was also accused of planting an IED that exploded, killing villager Sakita Devi in Lohardaga district.
