J&K. Cloudburst triggered heavy rainfall in Doda. Several houses and shops damaged.

In Jammu and Kashmir, a cloudburst triggered by heavy rainfall struck the Thathri region of Doda district early morning today, causing damage to several houses and shops.

Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that, fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that he spoke with the Deputy Commissioner, Doda, to assess the situation and directed the district administration to provide immediate relief and assistance to the affected families.

He also instructed officials to expedite restoration work, including the clearance of National Highway-244, and ensure swift measures to restore normalcy in the affected area.

The landslide struck the Thathri area after intense rainfall that began around midnight. By early morning, thick layers of mud, rocks and debris had engulfed parts of the town, crushing parked vehicles and damaging several buildings.
