Widespread Heavy Rains Lash Gujarat, Disrupts Normal Life.

Widespread heavy rainfall has lashed Gujarat over the past 24 hours, disrupting normal life in the Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions. Rajula and Dhari tehsils in Amreli district recorded nearly 10 inches of rainfall during the past 24 hours.

Heavy rains have prompted authorities to place six major dams on high alert. The Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam stands at 64.57 percent capacity.

Our correspondent reports that the rainfall has affected normal life with temporarily closure of 82 roads, including three national highways and the disruption of power supply in over 100 villages. Disaster management teams safely relocated over 750 citizens and rescued 60 individuals.

Ten NDRF teams and 25 SDRF platoons remain deployed in vulnerable districts, while fishermen are strictly warned not to venture into the Arabian Sea until 9th July due to rough sea conditions.
