Parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh are likely to experience heavy rainfall with lightning and gusty winds from tomorrow bringing relief from prevailing above normal temperatures and isolated heatwave conditions.
The Chandigarh-based Met Department has issued yellow alert of the heavy rainfall at isolated places in both the states and the union territory.
The predicted rain would not only help farmers who are ready with Paddy fields but is also likely to ease the electricity crisis in Punjab where the power demand has hit this year’s highest at over 16, 000 MegaWatts.
In the last 24-hours, Punjab’s Bathinda had the maximum temperature of 44.4 degree Celsius whereas Rohtak in Haryana experienced 43.5 degree Celsius. Chadnigarh recorded a maximum of 39.6 degree Celsius.
