The National Pulse Polio Immunisation Drive was conducted across the country today.
In Maharashtra, extensive arrangements were made to ensure that every child below the age of five received polio vaccine drops. Vaccination booths, transit teams, mobile teams and supervisory staff were deployed to ensure that no eligible child was left out.
In Nagpur, the campaign was inaugurated at the Urban Primary Health Centre in Hiwari Nagar in the presence of Mayor Neeta Thackeray. In Yavatmal district, arrangements were made to vaccinate over 2 lakh 5 thousand children.
Around 150 mobile teams and 34 transit teams were deployed to reach children in remote areas and those on the move. In Gadchiroli, the immunisation drive was inaugurated by MLA Dr. Milind Narote.
In Washim district, over one lakh children below the age of five were vaccinated through 996 booths with the support of 2,474 personnel.
