Punjab Police have busted another cross-border illegal arms smuggling network in Amritsar and apprehended four accused today. Police have recovered 10 sophisticated pistols along with live cartridges from their possession.
This is the second major arms recovery in Amritsar within the last few days.
Yesterday, police recovered 10 sophisticated weapons, including two sub-machine guns, narcotics, and a large amount of hawala money from seven accused, including an Afghan national living in New Delhi.
According to police, in both cases, the arrested accused were acting on the directions of a foreign-based smuggler and were receiving illegal weapon consignments through cross-border routes for onwards supply to criminal elements. Further investigation is underway.
