Monsoon Session of Maharashtra Legislature begins in Mumbai.

Monsoon Session of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly commenced in Mumbai today, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presenting supplementary demands worth over 97 thousand 706 crore rupees for the financial year 2026-27.

Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar administered the oath of office to newly elected members Sunetra Pawar and Akshay Kardile.

Congress leader Nana Patole raised the issue of water scarcity in several parts of the state, attributing it to the delayed onset of the southwest monsoon due to the El Niño phenomenon. Speaker Rahul Narwekar assured the House that an appropriate discussion would be held on the matter.

Both Houses also paid tributes to Padma Vibhushan awardee Asha Bhosle, Padma Bhushan awardee Suman Kalyanpur, former MLA Bhaurao Deshmukh, and Sureshkumar Jethalia before adjourning for the day.
