In Jammu and Kashmir, the upcoming “Waste to Wonder Park” in Jammu is being fast-tracked for completion ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, with authorities aiming to develop it as a key attraction for pilgrims and tourists.
The project, being developed under the Jammu Smart City Mission at an estimated cost of around 11 crore rupees, is nearing completion with nearly 80 per cent of the work already finished. The park is expected to be ready before the commencement of the pilgrimage.
Located at Bhagwati Nagar along the banks of the Tawi River, close to the Amarnath Yatra base camp, the park is being developed over nearly 40 kanals of land.
It will showcase replicas of 14 iconic monuments made primarily from scrap and recycled materials, including seven international landmarks, five national monuments, and two structures from Uttar Pradesh.
A major highlight of the park will be a 40-foot replica of the Statue of Unity, dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The project aims to blend tourism with environmental sustainability by transforming waste into creative installations. Once completed, the park is expected to boost tourism, raise awareness about recycling, and offer a new recreational space for visitors.
With thousands of pilgrims expected during the Amarnath Yatra, authorities are working in mission mode to complete key infrastructure projects in Jammu, enhancing facilities and adding new attractions for visitors.
