Singapore blocks online posts targeting Indian community.

The Singapore government has ordered three social media platforms to block access to 14 posts believed to have originated from China. The posts allegedly targeted the Indian community and sought to undermine Singapore’s model of multiculturalism.

The police have issued directions to YouTube, Facebook, and X, to take all reasonable steps to prevent Singapore users from accessing the content.

Singapore’s Second Minister for Home Affairs, Edwin Tong told reporters that the content appears to have originated overseas. He said, the government will not tolerate narratives aimed at undermining Singapore’s racial harmony, particularly when they are spread by foreign actors.

He added that authorities will continue to closely monitor the platforms and take necessary action against content that threatens social cohesion.
