Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar said that the authorities have been instructed to investigate and submit a report regarding the helium cylinder explosion that occurred in front of the Mysuru Palace yesterday.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, he said, a person from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, who was selling balloons, has died in the incident. Necessary action has been taken after discussing with the officials of the Tourism Department.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the helium cylinder explosion incident has risen to two. Manjula, a woman from Nanjangud who was seriously injured in the incident and was undergoing treatment at the KR Hospital, Mysuru, succumbed to injuries. Other injured are getting treatment at the hospital.
The incident occurred at around 8.30 pm in front of the Jayamartanda gate of the Mysore Palace in the city.
Vendors dealing with popcorn to groundnuts and gas balloons were making brisk business when the explosion rocked the area. It transpired that the cylinder used to fill helium in the balloon exploded at around 8 p.m. near the Jayamartanda Gate of the palace, resulting in the death of the vendor.
