PM Modi to inaugurate & lay foundation stone of multiple projects in Somnath, Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various projects in Somnath, Gujarat at 11 AM today via video conferencing.

The projects to be inaugurated include the Somnath Promenade, Somnath Exhibition Centre and reconstructed temple precinct of Old Somnath.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of Shree Parvati Temple during the event.

The Somnath Promenade has been developed under PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive) Scheme at a total cost of over 47 crore rupees.

The Somnath Exhibition Centre, developed in the premises of ‘Tourist Facilitation Centre’, displays the exhibits from dismantled parts of old Somnath temple and its sculptures having Nagar style temple architecture of old Somnath.

The reconstructed temple precinct of Old (Juna) Somnath has been completed by Shree Somnath Trust with a total outlay of 3.5 crore rupees.

This temple is also referred to as Ahilyabai Temple since it was built by Queen Ahilyabai of Indore, when she found that the old temple was in ruins.

The entire old temple complex has been holistically redeveloped for the safety of pilgrims and with augmented capacity.

Shree Parvati Temple is proposed to be constructed with a total outlay of 30 crore rupees.

This will include temple construction in Sompura Salats Style, development of Garbha Griha and Nritya Mandap.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy CM Nitin Patel will be present on the occasion.

AIR correspondent reports, “The three projects to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi include one-km long- promenade “Samudra Darshan” walkway built at a cost of 49 crore rupees.

Samudra Darshan- walkway behind the temple decorated with colorful lightings, spiritual paintings and benches.

Tourists can sit and see the beauty of the Arabian Sea. Prime Minister will also inaugurate newly-built Somnath Exhibition galary constructed at a cost of 75 lakh rupees.

It has vast collections of ancient artifacts and documents to showcase the glorious history of historic Somnath temple.

He will also inaugurate “Ahilyabai Holkar Temple” recently renovated at old Somnath temple opposite to the main temple.

He will also lay the foundation stone for the Parvati Temple near the Somnath temple.

Parvati temple will be constructed at a cost of 30 crore rupees.
