In Jammu and Kashmir, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra continues to remain suspended for the 7th consecutive day today as a precautionary measure in view of the inclement weather conditions prevailing in the Trikuta hills.
Akashvani Correspondent reports that continuous rainfall during the past week triggered flash floods in Banganga and caused damages along the track, forcing authorities to halt the movement of pilgrims to ensure their safety.
At the base camp in Katra, the atmosphere remained subdued and deserted, with only a limited number of devotees waiting patiently in the hope of resuming their pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine.
Many pilgrims, who had been waiting for several days, expressed disappointment but also conveyed understanding of the administration’s decision prioritizing safety over risk. This morning, a slight improvement in weather was reported, offering a sense of relief after several days of incessant rain.
Authorities, however, maintained that the Yatra will resume only after clearance from technical and security agencies once the tracks are fully restored and declared safe for movement.
Restoration work is underway at several affected spots. District administration and Shrine Board officials have advised pilgrims and locals to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel towards the shrine route until an official announcement regarding the resumption of the Yatra is made.
