The Ministry of Minority Affairs will sign an MoU with ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute to train 690 candidates from minority communities in Kerala.

Minister of State for Minority Affairs, George Kurian, will chair the MoU signing tomorrow at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Under the MoU, a skill training and women entrepreneurship development project will be provided under the PM Virasat Ka Samvardhan scheme.

The candidates will be trained in non-traditional fisheries-based skills, as well as leadership and entrepreneurship development. All candidates will receive stipends during the course of their training.

The Ministry highlighted that the initiative is designed to equip and enhance the domain knowledge and entrepreneurial capabilities of participants, empowering minority communities. It added that beyond skilling, the project also emphasises on handholding the participants towards self-employment opportunities.
