Asian Athletics Championships. Gulveer Singh wins Gold in running, Servin Sebasthiyan wins bronze in race walk.

In athletics, India’s Gulveer Singh has clinched the gold medal in the Men’s 10,000-metre race at the Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea. He secured the top spot clocking 28 minutes, 38.63 seconds.

Earlier, Servin Sebasthiyan opened India’s medal tally at the Asian Athletics Championships. Servin clinched the bronze medal in the men’s 20 kilometre race walk, clocking 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 13.6 seconds today.

Wang Zhaozhao of China won the gold medal, while Japan’s Kento Yoshikawa secured the silver. Another Indian athlete, Amit, finished fifth.

Gulveer, who is the Indian national record holder in the men’s 3000m, 5000m and 10000m, clocked 28:38.63 to win the race in Gumi.

The Indian athlete, who reset the 10000m national mark earlier this year with a 27:00.22 run in the USA, beat Japan’s Mebuki Suzuki (28:43.84) and Bahrain’s Albert Kibichi Rop (28:46.82) to the top spot. India’s Sawan Barwal finished fourth with 28:50.53.
